TMC interviewed Peter Korenev, Director of analytical and technological department at Sernia.

 

TMC: How did you get in this business?

Peter Korenev: It’s a long historical path leading to how we actually get in the business: the company started at late 80-s under the Faculty of Physics of Moscow State University as a service and solution provider for scientific research. If it’s about the person then I have graduated the Faculty of Physics at Moscow State University, the specialization is General nuclear and particle Physics, so that’s related to a lot of various analytics methods and to perform these high end methods you need quiet environment (in both vibration and electro-magnetic aspects).

 

TMC: What are the key markets you serve?

PK: For us the main market is semiconductor market (80%), 15% is material science, and the rest 5% is for life science and natural resources.

 

TMC: How do you see business evolving in your market in the next 10 years?

PK: The semiconductor market will consequently grow going to lower nanometers (lower technology nodes) down to 2 nm which require more stable solutions for lythography and other processes so TMC solutions will be the first demand, also there should be a breakthrough for semiconductor market on non-silicon semiconductors (we expect a huge growth of diamond electronis for instance), and again TMC vibration and EM cancellation solutions will be required.

 

TMC: How does TMC help you serve your market?

PK: For semiconductor market it’s critical to have stable conditions for sample drift and for focused charged particle beams, since TMC is a world leader for vibration and EM cancellation tools almost every high and analytical or technological tool uses these compensation techniques.

 

TMC:Tell us a fun fact about you!

PK: One of my hobbies is traveling to the distant shores. Good we have plenty of such places in Russia, so even in these hard times we can travel.
